Work Packages

Package Α’

EE1: Configuration of the archetypal building module

The first work package refers to the formulation of the building module’s archetype.

1.1. Targets - requirements

The design targets are analytically specified and the requirements that must be satisfied at the element’s and at the building’s level are defined.

1.2. Design - assemblies

The first approach of the building module’s configuration as regards its load bearing capacity, its assembly and the properties of its individual layers is carried out. The completion of the first section constitutes the milestone for the continuation of the project.

Package B’

EE2: Study of the building module’s performance at the element’s level

The second work package refers to the investigation of the building module’s performance at the element’s level. It is divided in six work subsections that involve the following:

2.1. The bearing capacity

It concerns the study of the basic parts of the building module, i.e. the metal frame, the concrete panels, the connections, etc. It includes all necessary analytical calculations using the finite element method, the experimental tests for the definition of the mechanical and physicochemical properties of the concrete panels for different compositions, as well as the experimental study of the whole building element as regards its strength and its performance against static and dynamic loads.

2.2. Hygrothermal and energy performance

It includes the analytical and experimental calculation of the thermal transmittance coefficient, the determination of the linear thermal transmittance coefficient for the thermal bridges encountered at the element’s joints, the study of hygrothermal parameters, as well as the analytical and experimental investigation of the phase change materials performance.

2.3. Acoustic performance

It includes the analytical and experimental investigation of the parameters that are related to the acoustic performance of the building module under study.

2.4. Fire performance

It includes the analytical and experimental calculation of the parameters related to the building module’s behavior under fire action.

2.5. Environmental performance

It includes the evaluation of the environmental impacts of the building module during its life cycle.

2.6. Optimization of the building element

It refers to the detailed design and development of the building module on the basis of the results of the above subsections.

Package C’

EE3: Study of the building module’s performance at the building level

The third work package concerns the performance assessment of a building unit, which encompasses the new building element.  The work is organized in three subsections:

3.1. Study of the building unit

The study will be designed and constructed specifically for the project.

3.2. Simulations for assessing the building unit performance

The simulations for assessing the building unit performance in respect to its energy behavior, reaction to fire, response to noise, as well as its environmental impacts during the building life cycle.

3.3. Experimental study for assessing the building unit performance

The experimental study for assessing the building unit performance, that will be implemented by recording the climate, energy and comfort parameters prevailing indoors under real conditions.

Package D’

EE4: Innovation management

4.1. Intellectual property rights management

The fourth work package refers to the innovation and intellectual property management of the project.

4.2. Patents issuing

The objective is to copyright the project results through a national and a European patent.
